Collision Warning System – Vehicle to Vehicle

Laserglow's SPDS is a Smart Proximity Detection Safety System that is designed to reduce work accidents caused by collisions among vehicles. As a support system for drivers, it provides more information about the space through which they circulate. The system compliments other tools designed to enhance safety at work.

SPDS uses cutting-edge Ultra Wide Band (UWB) RF wireless technology to precisely measure the distance between two vehicles to provide a highly reliable collision warning solution. It's easy to install without causing any damage to vehicles, and features industry leading proximity detection technology. SPDS is OEM-independent, so it is ideal for mixed fleets. The system works on robots, cobots (collaborative robots) and AGVs (automated guided vehicles), as well as forklifts and other industrial vehicles.


HOW DOES IT WORK?

The vehicle module, consists of a Vehicle Tag that creates a 360 degree detection zone around the vehicle and an Indicator module that alerts the vehicle driver of another vehicle or pedestrian. Once a vehicle is equipped with the SPDS system, it constantly communicates, monitors and detects other vehicles also fitted with the same device. The detection zones are configurable, with a range of up to 30 meters. This means that even if a vehicle is travelling through a blind spot or moving behind a shelf or a space that prevents it from being clearly seen, the system will detect its presence and warn drivers approaching so that they can take the necessary precautions.

When another vehicle enters the Warning or Danger zones of a vehicle, the Indicator on the vehicle sounds a "Watch out" or "Danger" message repeatedly to both the drivers. When an alarm occurs, the vehicle driver needs to press a button to acknowledge the other vehicle and mute the sound or wait until the other vehicle is out of the "Warning" or "Danger" zone.

Pedestrian Proximity Detection – Pedestrian to Vehicle

SPDS uses cutting-edge Ultra Wide Band (UWB) RF wireless technology to precisely measure the distance between vehicles and pedestrians to provide a highly reliable proximity detection solution. It's easy to install without causing any damage to vehicles, and features industry leading proximity detection technology. SPDS is OEM-independent, so it is ideal for mixed fleets. The system works on robots, cobots (collaborative robots) and AGVs (automated guided vehicles), as well as forklifts and other industrial vehicles.


HOW DOES IT WORK?

The SPDS system includes modules for both the vehicle and the pedestrians who work near them.

The vehicle truck module, consists of a Vehicle Tag that creates a 360 degree detection zone around the vehicle and an Indicator module that alerts the vehicle driver of a possible pedestrian. The vehicle is mounted with the vehicle tag and indicator module that constantly communicates and monitors zones around moving vehicles. SPDS can provide two programmable detection zones—"Warning" and "Danger". These zones can trigger different system reactions, automatically. From visual/audible/vibration alarms to vehicle slow-down and/or stop.

The Pedestrian wears an active UWB tag that creates a 360 degree detection zone around the pedestrian which warns the pedestrian with audible and/or vibration alarms. When the pedestrian enters the Warning or Danger zones of a vehicle, the Indicator on the vehicle sounds a "Watch out" or "Danger" message repeatedly to the driver and the pedestrian gets a vibrational and/or beep alarm at the same time. When an alarm occurs, the vehicle driver needs to press a button to acknowledge it to mute it or wait until the pedestrian is out of the "Warning" or "Danger" zone. The driver also wears a pedestrian tag, but in "Driver Mode" so that it pairs with his vehicle and does not sense his tag in the vehicle.

A fixed in place "Flashing Zone Beacon" is installed at the blind spot which creates a 360 detection zone around it. This Flashing Zone Beacon constantly communicates, monitors and detects vehicles fitted with a vehicle tag. This means that even if a vehicle is travelling through a blind spot or moving behind a shelf or a space that prevents it from being clearly seen, the system will detect its presence and warn drivers approaching so that they can take the necessary precautions. The detection zones are configurable, with a range of up to 30 meters. The flashing zone beacon modules can be installed above gates, aisle entrances, intersections or other high-traffic areas.

When a vehicle enters the Warning or Danger zones of the Flashing Zone Beacon, the Flashing Zone Beacon emits a warning buzzer and a flashing strobe light. The vehicle driver receives a "Watch out" or "Danger" message repeatedly. When an alarm occurs, the vehicle driver needs to press a button to acknowledge and mute it or wait until it is out of the "Warning" or "Danger" zone.

A fixed in place SafetyCast Virtual Sign Projector with a vehicle tag is installed at the intersection which creates a 360 detection zone around it. This Virtual Sign Projector constantly communicates, monitors and detects vehicles fitted with a vehicle tag. This means that even if a vehicle is travelling through a blind spot or moving behind a shelf or a space that prevents it from being clearly seen, the system will detect its presence and warn drivers approaching so that they can take the necessary precautions. The detection zones are configurable, with a range of up to 30 meters. When a vehicle enters the Warning or Danger zones, the Virtual Sign projector projects a visual sign on the floor (STOP, Cautions etc.). The vehicle driver receives a "Watch out" or "Danger" message repeatedly. When an alarm occurs, the vehicle driver needs to press a button to acknowledge and mute it or wait until it is out of the "Warning" or "Danger" zone.

Automatic Gate/Access Control
